Abstract: | Current research work deals with the analysis of histomorphological newlinevariations in placenta of Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) women; which newlinewere executed to understand the impact of PCOS on placenta to develop newlineintervention strategies to improve pregnancy outcomes. Reproductive aged newlinewomen of 5% to 15% were found to acquire PCOS, a common newlineendocrinopathy affecting reproductive, metabolic and gynecologic status of newlinewomen. It includes more risks to develop abnormal uterine bleeding, newlinemiscarriage, infertility, depression, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, newlinehyperlipidemia, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and endometrial newlinecancers. When compared to normal pregnancies, pregnancies of women with newlinePCOS are characterized by high maternal and fetal morbidity. Offsprings newlinedelivered by PCOS are predisposed to reproductive, cardiometabolic and newlinevarious other dysfunctions in adulthood. Results from the newlinepresent prospective study conclude that pregnant women with PCOS newlineexhibited remarkable placental alterations which imparted the negative newlineinfluence on the fetal growth and development, depicted from the low fetal newlinebirth weight. In the context of relationship between PCOS and BMI; our study newlinereveals that PCOS per se exhibits complications in all maternal, placental and newlinefetal compartments; however the condition became more complicative in newlinePCOS subjects with high BMI. Normals were also observed to be affected newlinewith increased BMI however the effect was negligible when compared to newlinenormal with normal BMI. Hence, our study concludes that normal BMI should newlinebe maintained in PCOS pregnant women to avoid critical outcomes of newlinepregnancy. It also highlights the need for further analysis at cellular and newlinemolecular level to find a prognostic, diagnostic and therapeutic aid to newlineovercome PCOS mediated pregnancy complications. newline |
