Abstract: | Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death in women worldwide. Despite the existing therapies, Triple Negative Breast Cancer is one of the most aggressive subtype of breast cancer. TNBCs are known for their highly aggressive metastatic behaviour and typically migrate to the brain and bone for secondary site propagation. Many diseases share similar molecular pathology. These pathological conditions and molecular signalling have exposed new paths for engendering innovative therapies. The generation of newer therapies and novel drugs is time consuming and is in fact associated with high resources. In order to design precision medicine, drug repositioning shall contribute in a cost-effective manner. Our major focus has been to target triple negative breast cancer with novel combinations of approaches at different levels. In our present study, we have used multiple drug molecules and repurposed them to target the aggression of TNBC. Our combination regime significantly targets two diverse but significant pathways in TNBCs. Subsequent analysis of migratory, invasive, and angiogenic properties showed the importance of our repurposed drug combination. Protein molecular array data has resulted in the identification of specific key players participating in cancer progression upon using the drug combination. The innovative combinations reiterate the use of drug repositioning for precision medicine and subsequent companion diagnostic development. newline |
