Pol SC _ 07/2013 (p) newline newlineIn recent years, while there is a widespread hue and cry for women empowerment, simultaneously there is rampant women discrimination and subordination. There is enormity and pensiveness of the monstrosity perpetrated against women in the form of domestic violence which has become a serious concern for scholars and policy makers. As such, an attempt has been made for an in-depth study on Domestic Violence in Odisha with special reference to the district of Balasore. The study consists of the components as conceptual framework of Domestic Violence, objectives of the study, scope of the study, Area of the study limited to the 3 rural and 3 urban areas of Balasore district. A sample of 100 victim respondents each from both rural and urban areas were covered by face to face interview along with some NGOS and protection Officers. The study has taken certain important questions. It has thrown upon some hypotheses which have been empirically verified. The present study, quotDomestic Violence Against Women: An Analytical study of the District of Balasore of Odishaquot has 6 chapters. The major findings of the study are briefly explained and conclusion drawn. The study has focused on the socio-economic profile of the victim respondents, the infliction of domestic violence on them, awareness of the Protection of women from Domestic Violence Act of 2005, the role of the court, police (Protection Officer) and the NGOS for redressal. The study certainly can add some knowledge to an important area of enquiry in Social Science. newline
