Cancer which is an abnormal cell growth positions as a leading cause of death worldwide and it plays a principal part in mortality. In 2020, as stated world health organization cancer is the first or second significant cause of death in 112 of 183 countries even before the age of 70 years and ranks as the third or fourth leading cause of death in the remaining 23 countries. Superoxide anion radical, hydroperoxyl radical, free nitrogen radicals, singlet oxygen, hydroxyl radical are some of the examples of Reactive oxygen species. The different parts of Annona muricata has many functions which includes: the fruits of the tree are used to make candies and some preparations like concoctions of various parts of the tree involving bark, seeds, leaves, roots and pericarp are mainly considered as a folk medicine for the treatment of multiple diseases including cancer by the local peoples of south America and Africa. Several researchers found that the plant is very much useful in treating various ailments. The richness of the plant in phenolic contents and other secondary metabolites affirmed its medicinal efficacy and potentials. The finding from this study therefore suggests that the leaf could be a potential source of natural antioxidant that could have great importance as therapeutic agents in preventing or slowing ageing associated with oxidative stress and related degenerative diseases. It is recommended that further investigation on the isolation and characterization of the bioactive constituents of the leaf leading to structural elucidation is necessary. newlinei) Major objectives :- newlineand#61623; To analyze the phytochemical constituents of Annona muricata leaf extract. newlineand#61623; To estimate the antioxidant potential of different parts (Leaf, Seed, Root and Fruit) of the various solvent extracts of Annona muricata. newlineand#61623; To assess the radical scavenging ability and anticancer potential of methanolic extracts of Annona Muricata in cancer cell lines of different origin.
