Abstract: | Mobile networks have attracted significant interests in recent years due newlineto their improved flexibility and reduced costs Wireless networks can be newlinedeployed in areas without a preexisting wired communication infrastructure or newlinewhere it is Mobile Ad hoc Networks MANETs makes them suitable for a wide newlinevariety of applications including military operations rescue and law enforcement newlineagencies as well as in disaster recovery scenarios newlineBroadcasting is crucial in an ad hoc network for information newlineDissemination Flooding of messages from a source to all other nodes in the newlinenetwork is called broadcasting In MANET most of the routing protocols such as newlineAODV and DSR uses broadcasting in its route discovery phase topology newlineUpdates network maintenance and for sending a control or warning message newlineHence it is essential to design efficient broadcasting algorithms to reduce the newlinenumber of broadcasts while keeping the bandwidth and computational overhead newlineas low as possible newlineOne of the earliest broadcast mechanism is Flooding in which every node newlineon receiving a broadcast packet simply retransmits it to all its neighbors It newlineresults in severe degradation of network performance due to excessive newlineretransmission contention and collision newline |
