Abstract: | The present study was designed to assess the effect of parental time and monetary investment on the well-being of adolescents. The sample of the study comprised of 153 adolescents studying in CBSE Schools of Agra city along with their both parents. Multistage sampling technique was employed to select the participants for data collection. Data had been collected through three self-constructed scales, i.e., PTIS, PMIS and AWBS. The Parental Time Investment Scale consisted of five components, i.e., Daily routine, Academics, Companionship, Social and Other Activities, The Parental Monetary Investment Scale consisted of seven components, i.e., Food, Clothing, Education, Health care and Cosmetics, Entertainment, Transportation, Miscellaneous Expenses and Adolescents Well-being Scale was based on seven components viz. Self -Acceptance, Happiness, Health, Education, Behavioral well-being, Relationships with family, peers and teachers and Environmental Well-being). It is an exploratory research, designed in the form of survey method and the data were obtained by administering the research tools in the schedule form. Analysis of the data was done by applying statistical techniques (Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation, Student t-test, and Linear Regression). Results were interpreted on the basis of different demographic variables such as Adolescents Age, Gender and Class enrolled, Number of siblings, Family type, Parents Age, Educational qualification and Occupational status, and Annual family income. Findings of the study highlighted that mothers invested significantly higher amount of time on their adolescents as compared to fathers. Along with this, parents invested more time time on younger aged, daughters and adolescents studying in 8th to 10th standard, whereas parents invested higher amount of money on older ones, sons and adolescents studying in 11th and 12th standard. Moreover, parents from joint families and belonged to higher income families invested higher amount of time and money on them than their counterparts. It is also revealed that the considerable number of adolescents found to have a moderate level of overall well-being and parental time as well as money were significantly valuable and effective for the well-being of adolescents. newlineKeywords: Parents, Parental Time Investment, Parental Monetary Investment, Adolescents, Adolescents Well-being. newline newline |
