Abstract: newline In India, there are a few studies which evaluated Plumbago zeylanica and newlineSphaeranthus indicus to develop as a drug against Helicobacter pylori.Keeping in newlineview of the therapeutic importance and traditional uses and lack of scientific newlineevaluation and validation the present study is designed to explore antibacterial newlineactivity against H. pylori and other drug resistant bacteria. The extracts were used newlineto perform phytochemical analysis including Alkaloids, Terpenoids, Coumarins, newlineTannins, Quinones, Flavonoids, Glycosides, Steroids, and Saponins. GC-MS newlineanalysis, antimicrobial assay, Minimum inhibitory concentration of plant extracts, newlineand anti-H. pylori activity were determined. Extracts obtained by continuous newlineSoxhlet were subjected to qualitative phytochemical tests to identify the presence newlineof secondary metabolite (viz., alkaloids, glycosides, tannins, flavonoids, sterols, newlinefats, oils, phenols and saponins) present in them. Preliminary phytochemical newlinescreening exhibited the presence of tannins, flavonoids, alkaloids, and newlinecarbohydrates in methanolic and aqueous extract, and glycosides in only newlinemethanolic extract of bark root of P. zeylanica. In root extract of S. indicus, newlinephenols were present only in aqueous extract. Concentration of alkaloids, newlineflavonoids, steroids, and tannins were higher. Zone of inhibition for bark root of P. newlinezeylanica. Against strain number 394, at concentration of 0.15 mg, 10 mm zone of newlineinhibition was observed for methanolic extract while aqueous extract showed no newlinezone of inhibition. Against strain number 399, at concentration of 0.15 mg, 10 mm newlinezone of inhibition was observed for methanolic extract while aqueous extract newlineshowed zone of inhibition of 12 mm at 10 mg concentration. The MIC for one dual newlinedrug-resistant strain of North India was 0.00015 gram for methanol and the second newlineof the dual drug-resistant strain of North India was 0.01 gram for aqueous. The newlinezone of inhibition was measured to be 8 mm and 6 mm for methanolic extract and newline20 mm for aqueous extract of S. indicus. Gas liquid c
