Abstract: | The present investigation deals with the Hydrobiological aspects of Kundrala Medium newlineProject with special reference to its productivity and planktonic diversity. The above title newlinebased research work is elaborated in detail and divided into seven (7) major segments. newlinei.e., Introduction, Review of Literature, Study Area, Materials and Methods, newline(Observations), Results and Discussion, Summary and Conclusion and Bibliography newline(references). newlineNo life is without water. Water is nature s free gift to human beings and all the different newlinebiotic communities on earth. Even though it is present in sufficient amount on earth, both newlinein fresh and salty forms, but every organism s basic need is water. So thus, it becomes newlineessential to determine the quality of water for living beings. Many researchers have newlineworked on assessment of fresh water quality including both lentic and lotic waterbodies. newlineIn the first chapter, many important points have discussed along with general newlineintroduction. The topics like limnology, lakes and reservoirs are briefly explained. Apart newlinefrom it, the important subpoints like global scenario of fresh water, water resources in newlineMaharashtra, the different sources of water contamination. The scarcity of water is newlinediscussed in water stress. The importance of assessment of water quality and objectives newlineof study are mentioned. The main aims of research work are to assess the water quality newlineof Kundrala Medium Project with respect to some of physicochemical and biological newlineproperties. In biological aspects, the main focus was on planktonic diversity and primary newlineproductivity of the water reservoir. newlineIn review of literature, the many references have classified into international and national newlinestatus of work done by several researchers. The quality and availability of water varies newlineregion wise. Perhaps the necessity if same everywhere to analyse. Mostly in the nearby newlinetopographical areas, because of similar geographic regions, there may be similarity in newlinequality of water. But there is variation in anthropogenic activities. Hence at last in the |
