Abstract: Internet of Things (IoT) is the paradigm of non-intelligent peripherals and devices that are used for smart applications. The upcoming internet based era demands intelligent output through smart devices. The various categories of devices and platforms required in IoT are configured in networks and environments, which makes the IoT more scalable and interoperable. The exponential growth in the network configuration is increasing the demand of independent and scalable environments. The system interfaces used for integrating the modules and nodes provides infrastructure to make network more scalable and loosely coupled. These interfaces consists of protocols that governs the rules for communication. These standards also plays important role in synchronizing the heterogeneous behavior of devices thus making communication more reliable and accurate. The communication methods used for messaging from sender to receiver are trying to overcome the challenges arise in meeting the quality of services (QOS) for reliability and availability. Throughput and latency are basic factors which effects the quality of service of an infrastructure. This thesis research work provides an analysis of communication process and behavior of protocols based on publish and subscribe models popularly used in IoT domain. The queuing based communication mechanism for asynchronous systems is implemented. The Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP) is highlighted, which provides coverage to maximum possible issues of reliability and availability. An open source services provided by RabbitMQ broker platform is implemented using advanced message queuing concept. The standards using exchange and broker concept using message queuing is efficient in providing the high degree of scalability and Interoperability in the network.
