The Saga of Trials and Tribulations

Abstract

The study is based on the analysis of the works of the selected authors from the North-East region of India. The aim of this study is to trace the ethnic, cultural, social and political milieus of the North-East India from the pre-Independence era to the present time and to make a comparative study of the recurrent as well as distinctive features of the literary output of the selected authors of the region. Indira Goswami (1942-2011), Siddhartha Deb (1970-), Mitra Phukan (1953-) and Srutimala Duara(1964-) all belonging to the contemporary age, have written their works to raise their voices for their homeland and the aim of study is also to probe into and analyze the distinctiveness of the literary trends of the region. newline North-East region of India which was left unheeded after Independence by the Centre is suffering even today due to the ill consequences of various socio-political and cultural conflicts. The selected writers have skillfully knitted the dark realities infecting the region with their imagination and thus have narrated the saga of trials and tribulations affecting their homeland. newline newline
