dc.description.abstractUranium is found in larger concentrations than normal in some regions newlinedue to human mining and processing. This research identifies a potential medicinal newlinesource that could help communities suffering facing uranium toxicity. newlineIn this study, phytochemical analysis of the Gymnema sylvestre leaf extract was newlinecarried out and the extract was evaluated for its potential to mitigate uranium toxic newlineeffects in human lymphocytes in vitro. In the last few years, several reports of newlineuranium contamination in drinking water sources with alarming levels above WHO newlineguidelines have been observed. Our studies represent a novel contribution in the newlinescientific literature of uranium toxicity in man and most importantly therapeutic newlinepotential of Gymnema sylvestre extract against the cytotoxic and genotoxic effects of newlineuranium newline
