Abstract: OBJECTIVEThe study was carried out to find out the effectiveness and efficacy of Sensory and Relationship based Occupational Therapy Interventions and to develop a home based naturalistic intervention protocol for Indian children diagnosed with ASD newlineMETHOD60 children with ASD participated in the study and they were past recipients of Occupational Therapy services at different clinics and hospital across Jaipur They were randomly assigned to three intervention groups with the number of 20 children in each group All children received 30 minutes of functional task training along with 30 minutes of either sensory integration or floortime intervention twice a week for group I and group II Group III received 30 minutes of functional task training twice a week along with 30 minutes of sensory integration and 30 minutes of floortime therapy once a week Parents were involved in providing sensory diet to group I subjects floortime playful interaction for group II subjects and both for group III Changes in functional performance were assessed by using Canadian Occupational Performance measure COPM and Goal Attainment scale GAS Changes in core symptoms of ASD were assessed by administering Childhood Autism Rating Scale II CARS II The intervention period was 6 weeks and outcome measures were administered twice once before beginning of interventions and 2nd time after 6 weeks newlineRESULT Intra or within group comparisons of posttest and pretest data significant changes observed for all the intervention groups i e Group I SI Group II FT and group III FTSI with all outcome measures Intergroup comparison of posttest mean scores provided a significant difference between group III and group I with all outcome measures Intergroup comparison of posttest mean scores provided a non significant difference between group II and group I with all outcome measures Intergroup comparison of posttest mean scores provided a significant difference between group III and group II with GAS and CARS but non significant with COPM Sensory interventions
