Abstract: The aim of this research is to bring out complex behaviour of characters in the newlineselected stories of Alice Munro and explore the conflicts within relationships. Human newlinebeing suffers from their own folly or mistakes and sometimes by lack of luck or newlinemisfortunes. Complexity has always remained to be a part of human life, because human newlinenature is very complex. Every person s behavior is different from another one. Freud s newlinepsychological analysis helps in this context. Freud s Psychoanalytical Theory seeks out newlinethe deep aspects of human psyche. Freud distinguished tripartite formula which is known newlineas id, the ego and super ego. Author s characters are driven largely by Freudian mental newlineagencies. Julia Kristeva s concept of the abject appears to be particularly useful in newlineinterpreting drama of Munro s fiction because abjection is set after the symbolic and newlinebefore the real. As a result, there comes a perfect balance in the human personality through newlinewatching the spectacles of pity and fear. Alice Munro s story shows how man s devilish newlinetendencies lead to shocking loss of goodness. It means good and evil live side by side in newlineevery human heart. When evil begins to dominate situations change, things fall apart. newlineThis research has worked on the short stories of Alice Munro. Short story is a brief tale. newlineIt presents a specific mood either of delight or despair; sometime it brings reader in touch newlinewith fantasy. Fine fusion of suspense which expressing expectations, joy, shame and newlinerepentant grief. There are characters, situations dialogue and comments to highlight the newlinerich texture of human life. But unlike the novel, it is a miniature art form in which a newlineparticular event becomes the focal point to convey the writer s vision. The influence of newlinepsychology has brought revolutionary changes in most of the character of the stories. newlineFrom mere presentation of external matters, it has delved deep into the depths of the newlinemind, revealing motive in a memorable manner. newline newline
