Abstract: | Superabsorbent hydrogels are 3-dimension web of having a strong affinity for water, that newlineare moderately crosslinked through either chemical or physical bonding. they can absorb newlineand conserve a huge quantity of water along maintaining the somatic shape and newlinedimensional stability. Superabsorbent hydrogels have strong absorption power for water newlineand water soluble materials. In modern times, it observed superabsorbents have newlinefunctional branches like as carboxylic acid, phenolic, sulphonic acid etc. That can be newlineapplied as good water absorbent as well as efficient analyzable agent for separation of newlineions/dyes from liquid solvent. Thus the synthesis of superabsorbent hydrogels having newlinechelating functional which received a lot of attention for metal ion/dye adsorption. In newlinethis regard we have synthesized a copolymeric poly(AAc-NaAlg-SH) superabsorbent newlinehydrogel, which consisted of three different monomers; acrylic acid, sodium alginate and newlinesodium humate. newlineAcrylic acid is economical and easy to polymerize (Liu and Rempel, newline1997).Another benefit is the presence of carboxylic group, which makes it highly newlinehydrophilic as well as good chelating agent directing to application in water absorption newlineand metal ion/cationic dye removal, It was chosen because of it s biocompatible nature, newlineand higher water absorbing capacity. Sodium Humate is made up off of multi-functional newlineopen-chain components with hydrocarbon element. It has large amount of functional newlinegroup including carboxylates, phenolic hydroxyls etc. Due to this sodium humate works newlineas very good water absorbent as well as can form complex with the cationic species i.e. newlineadsorb metal ions or dye molecules very well. newlineIn present investigations, a sequence of superabsorbent hydrogels poly(AAc- newlineNaAlg-SH) depend upon acrylic acid, sodium alginate and sodium humate monomers newlinewere synthesized by polymerization,adding of N,N methylene bis acrylamide (NMBA) newlineand pottassium per sulphate (KPS) |
