Distillery industry is one of the most highly polluting and growth newlineoriented industries in India Distillery wastewater has high organic and newlineinorganic loading low pH and dark colour Therefore spentwash disposal newlineinto the environment is hazardous and has high pollution potential The newlineexisting anaerobic treatment method for distillery is quite inadequate due to newlinethe presence of recalcitrant compounds which are mostly coloured and in a newlinehighly complex state The anaerobically digested distillery wastewater is newlinecharacterised by the presence of high chemical oxygen demand COD of newline36600 38600 mgL and contains BOD in the range of 8000 9200 mgL newlineand thereby requires further treatment before its disposal into the newlineenvironment newline newline
