Abstract: | newlineThrough this study, I attempt to understand what shapes such policies and why they newline perform the way they do. I use an institutional analysis framework and apply it to a case newline study of the Mukhyamantri Dal Bhat Yojana (a state led community kitchen newline programme) in Ranchi district of Jharkhand. The approach involves a study of how the newline institutions of the market, state and social collectives interact to shape the policy and newline its performance. The study helps us understand how the Mukhyamantri Dal Bhat newline Yojana has evolved, how it performs in terms of addressing food security among the newline footloose and why it performs the way it does. The in-depth study of this policy also newline allows us to draw some extremely useful insights about social policy processes in India newline which can be beneficial for those engaged in the study, design, implementation, and newline monitoring of social policies in India. Despite the existence of community kitchen newline programmes in several states in India now, there is no large-scale study of such policies. newline This is, therefore, the first large scale study of any community kitchen programme in newline India. It is also the first known study to use an institutional analysis framework to do newline an in-depth case study of a social protection policy. This study, therefore, helps to newline understand the dynamic interactions and processes that shape the policy and its newline performance over time |
