Studies on the drape and related characteristics of apparel leathers

Abstract

Leather is widely used for making apparel Understanding the newlineproperties of leathers associated with apparel construction would provide valuable inputs for the design and fabrication of the leather apparel Drape is newlineone of the important properties associated with garment construction that newlineaffects the aesthetic appeal and functionality of materials used for clothing manufacture In this study an attempt has been made to quantify drape for newlinevarious apparel leathers and correlate with the related properties Initiallydrape parameters such as drape coefficient and number of nodes were measured for sheep nappa and cow nappa leathers from different sources and compared with mechanical properties which influence the garment newlineconstruction such as flexural rigidity softness weight thickness initialtensile modulus and newline newline
