Abstract: S.sesban L. Merr (Family: Leguminosae) is a short lived shrub which grows upto 8 -12 m in height. It is majorly distributed in the tropical region of the world. The leaves of S.sesban are reported in the ayurvedic and medicinal text for their purgative, anthelmentic, maturant, demulcent, and anti-inflammatory action. It is also ethno-medicinally used for venereal disease, rheumatic swelling and skin diseases. The leaf extracts have been extensively evaluated for its antiflammatory, antidiabetic activity antioxidant, anthelmintic, eczema and antimicrobial activity, however, there are few studies reported on the phytochemical investigation of the leaves. newline
