Abstract: Today s world require more electrical energy than the earlier days, the question arise is newline newlinehow we could overcome this, the solution for this is solar energy. We use a Photovoltaic (PV) system to achieve the motto. However, the manufacturing expenditure and the vast land requirement made the choice impediment. In addition to implementation cost the conditions in which PV system operates also effects its efficiency and reliability. Among unfavorable conditions, fluctuating light condition is the worst one. newlineFluctuating light condition is a condition where the panels in a PV array are not uniformly illuminated. The panels may be shaded by moving clouds, bird litters, nearby buildings or structures in the same building like chimneys, overhead tanks, etc. Fluctuating light condition increases mismatch losses and, to meet the desired specifications, size of the PV array is to be increased. This in turn increases the return period of investment and makes power generation using PV systems less attractive. It is therefore necessary to develop a suitable techniques to enhance the power generation under fluctuating light condition, so that the installed PV system is efficiently utilized. newlineMaximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) is very important and useful for an optimal operation of solar PV system by finding Maximum Power Points (MPPs). Most of the conventional MPPT methods are effective during normal light insolation condition, but these methods seem to be struggling to find Global Maximum Power Points (GMPPs) under fluctuating light conditions, that is when modules of solar array didn t receive uniform insolation of light. During normal solar insolation conditions Power - Volt curves of PV arrays exhibit only one peak, multiple Local Maximum Power Points (LMPPTs) may be viewed in Power vs Volt curves of PV arrays under fluctuating light conditions, hence MPPT methods will fail to track the accurate MPPs. In this thesis a modified MPPT method which can track MPPs during fluctuating lighting condition with high accuracy
