Abstract: newlineNow a day s energy is the key concern for the whole world. Fossil fuels are limited in the world. newlineContinuous extraction of crude oil resulting in depletion of fossil fuels reserves. Therefore scientist and newlineresearchers are looking for new renewable and sustainable source of energy. Biodiesel produced from newlinevegetable oil plays an important role for the substitute of petro diesel. This paper analyze the newlineperformance and emission behaviour of a single cylinder; four stroke variable compression ratio research newlinediesel engine using a combined blends of Jatropha and Karanja biodiesel as a fuel. Five blends of newlineJatropha and Karanja are prepared as JKB1 (10% Jatropha+20 % Karanja+70 % diesel), JKB2 newline(12.5:17.5:70), JKB3 (15:15:70), JKB4 (17.5:12.5:70) and JKB5 (20:10:70) for investigation. Response newlinesurface methodology has been adapted for the study of the performance and emission behavior of the newlinecombined blends of Jatropha and Karnaja biodiesel. The optimal solution for the both performance and newlineemission response is obtained by 6 Kg engine load, 18 compression ratio and 215 bar fuel injection newlinepressure for the combined blend of JKB5.Composite desirability for the both criteria is found 0.8001. newlineThe value of BTE and BSFC are found as 25.78 %, 0.57 Kg/KW.Hr respectively. The emission newlineconstituents are observed as 9.2 ppm, 0.08%, 4.24 % and 95.84 ppm for the HC emission, CO emission, newlineCO2 emission and NOx emissions respectively. Finally it is reported that performance and emission newlinecharacterizes of combined blends of Jatropha and Karanja biodiesel are comparable with diesel. newline(Brijesh Verma) newline(Dr. Bharat Raj Bundel) newline(Major Advisor) newline(Dr. Iqbal Ahmed Khan) newline(HoD, Mechanical newlineEngineering Department)
