Abstract: | Growth of connected vehicles and the advent of vehicular social network VSN newlinehave attracted academia and industries towards vehicular Ad hoc network newlineVANET research The aim of connected vehicles is to share relevant newlineinformation for the ease of driving while VSN aims to provide an improved newlinerecommendation system as a route planner for intelligent vehicles connected to newlineeach other For both the above mentioned ambitions VANET being a framework newlineof intelligent transportation systems ITS proves to be the reliable choice newlineWhether it is a car to car communication of connected vehicles or designing a newlineroute planner for VSN it is highly desirable that the communication is being done newlinein a secure way Communications in both the cases demand the authenticity of newlineboth the entity i e a vehicle and the content i e a message However newlinecommunication in VANET is susceptible to security and privacy attacks Also newlinebecause of characteristics of a VANET it poses challenges in the deployment newlineHence the focus of this research is to investigate and design an authentication newlinescheme for secured communication in VANET For this a detailed review of newlinesecurity challenges authentication schemes have done. In order to secure the newlinemessage and improve the verification time 1 A Road Side Unit Based Proxy newlineSignature Scheme for Fast Verification of Messages in Vehicular Ad-Hoc newlineNetwork have be proposed and compared with existing work to prove its newlineeffectiveness and then ii A Novel Road Side Unit Assisted Hash Chain based newlineApproach for Authentication in Vehicular Ad-hoc Network have proposed and newlineimplemented using ns3 SUMO and MOVE simulator to prove its robustness as newlinecompared to the existing schemes Finally a Blockchain based framework has newlinebeen proposed to reduce the cost of storing key and also provide secure newlinedissemination of messages in VANET newlineSeveral researchers have addressed the issues of secured message newlinedissemination using public key cryptography but the schemes lacks in message newlineverification time because of high dependence on the trusted authority TA Thus newlinein this |
