Abstract: Since the last few decades the world has experienced the transformation of the power newlineindustry from a monopolistic nature to a competitive nature and electricity has been newlinetreated as a commodity and traded in different electricity markets worldwide. In the newlinederegulated power industry, many participants are in the market aiming to get the newlinemaximum benefit by selling and buying the energy. The congestion in the transmission newlineline occurs due to increased load demand, the limited capacity of the transmission line and newlinethe tendency to get the power at a cheaper rate. The growing penetration of uncertain newlinerenewable resources and utilization of the energy storage system may arise the congestion newlinesituation in the power system which may lead to power system security and reliability newlineat high risk. Moreover, the acute competition among generation companies and open newlineaccess to transmission networks increases the possibility of occurrence of congestion in newlinethe network. The electricity price diverges due to congestion. Hence, the system operator newlinehas to deal with congestion management issues with the utmost care. In this context, newlinethe assessment of the congested situation in the transmission line is necessary to evaluate newlinesystem security and reliability. Various approaches such as rescheduling of generators, newlineoptimal placement of Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) devices, sensitivity newlinebased approach, auction-based approach and the impact of renewable resources on newlinecongestion management have been presented in various literature. These approaches are newlineapplied to a specific system operating condition. Thus in this context, this study focuses newlineto relieve the congestion situation when the power system is equipped with demand newlineresponse, plug-in electric vehicle, renewable resources, energy storage system. Along newlinewith the congestion, this thesis focuses on various economic aspects such as reduction newlineof generation cost, rescheduling cost of generators, emission cost and Plugin Electrical newlineVehicles (PEVs) charging cost. newlineIn this thesis, the energy and c
