Abstract: | In recent times, workplaces are becoming very challenging. One of the reasons for this is newlinethe coexistence of three or more than three Gens in a given workplace, namely the Generation newline(Gen) X, Gen Y or the Millennials and Gen Z or Centennials. Many researchers are working on newlinevarious aspects of Gens like the definition, the characteristics of the generations, their behaviour newlineand various ways of managing the Gens at the workplace. Authors William Strauss and Neil newlineHowe were the pioneers in coining the term Millennial or Gen Y. To manage multi - diverse newlineworkplace is a growing challenge for HR managers (Jaskyte, 2014; Zhong et al., 2021). newlineCorporations have brought in distinct offerings, workplace policies, and employer practices so as newlineto attract the Gen X and the Gen Y, enhance their performance and retain them (Lenhart, 2015; newlineMoore, 2012; Magee et al., 2013). In the current times when Gen X is almost on the verge of newlineexiting work-life and Centennials (also referred to Gen Z, i-Gen, post-millennial or digital newlinenatives) are at the threshold of entering the workforce, it becomes extremely imperative to newlineunderstand the basic characteristics /traits, work attitudes, values, personality traits, and newlinebehaviour of Gen Z which will have a certain impact on their professional conduct and output at newlinetheir workplace (Althammer et al., 2021; Dousin et al., 2021). The current research is an attempt newlineto delve deeper into the characteristics and behaviour of centennials with special reference to newlinethose recruited by the IT industry. newline |
