Abstract: Access control is the most significant element for improving the security of data in the cloud storage model. However, conventional data sharing, as well as access control approaches, has a major challenge in the research area, such as privacy data leakage and key abuse. The outsourcing of Electronic Health Records (EHR) on a cloud model has enabled medical data sharing between various healthcare applications. Besides, the blockchain model affords security through authenticating the users with several encryption techniques. The cooperation with the cloud offers enhanced management, although it poses threats to patients privacy. Hence, major two contributions are developed in this research work for effectual access control and privacy-based data sharing and retrieval process in the blockchain-based cloud. In the first contribution, the blockchain-based access control and data sharing model is introduced in the cloud. The developed Blockchain-based access control and data sharing process efficiently resolves the single-point failure in cloud architecture. The Data user (DU) produces a registration request depending on ID and password, and it is forwarded to Data Owner (DO). The DO information is integrated into a transactional blockchain based on an encrypted master key. The DO obtains data encryption, whereas encrypted files are uploaded to Interplanetary File System (IPFS). The DO formulates ciphertext metadata and it is included in transactional blockchain by means of the encrypted file location and encrypted key. In the second contribution, blockchain structure was developed for effectual data sharing and retrieval process in cloud platforms. The data protection process is introduced in EHR application for secure transmission. The entities, such as data user, data owner, transactional blockchain, smart agreement, and Inter-Planetary File System (IPFS) are included in the cloud platform. In addition, DO comprise a data protection algorithm for securing HER, where secured EHR is converted to IPFS before sharing
