dc.description.abstractABSTRACT newlineThe hotel industry is one of the leading and booming industries worldwide generating 42.7 million employments and is recognizedas a significant source of economic growth for the nation. The global authority on travel and tourism, The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) has done a research study called India 2019 Annual Research which shows that travel and tourism in India contribute 9.2 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP) and generating 42.7 percent jobs around 8.0 percent of the total employment. This figure is expected to grow to US $275.2 billion in the year 2025. The hospitality Industry is the third largest foreign exchange earner in India. Apart from the number of pros the industry has many challenges, to stay in the market with a wide competition and following all regulation for the sake of society and environment is on the top priority. newlineGreen practices or sustainability practices have emerged and acquired significant attention in the hospitality industry all over the world. The Rapid growth of the application of eco-friendly practices and continue initiatives brought a significant effect to conserve the environment and retain the eco-friendly consumers. Sustainability practices for the integrity of the environment and to fulfill the need for the future generation nowadays is the most evolving issue around the globe. Further consumers perception and awareness about to save the only earth planet and the participation of consumers for the initiative by the hoteliers to introduce more innovative sustainable programs, for example, only tent cards in the bathroom, reusing linen and towels, recycling stationary, papers, low-pressure water devices, etc. brought lots of benefits for the environment and hotels costs. Besides, it is a trend in hotels to encourage guests to promote and support the initiatives to conserve the environment. Ecolabel is the important tool that is obtained by the hotel after implementation of certain green practices and used to showcase that at which level the hotel
