Abstract: Since ancient times, India has been a country whose people have resorted to agriculture as their main source of livelihood. About 60% of the Indian population is totally dependent on agriculture. Researchers, scholars, survey reports from various organizations, university surveys, NGOs and Newspaper reports discuss the topic of suicide among people who take up agriculture as their main occupation. Having been many such reasons, whether to fully agree with or not is a matter of controversy. Here are some of the reasons: Monsoon failure, mental health, family problems, government policies, debt burden, hybrid seeds, etc. The number of farmer suicides in India in 2012 was 13,754, according to a report prepared by the National Crime Records Bureau of India. The report also mentioned that in 2004, the highest number of 18,241 farmers committed suicide. A total of 296,438 farmers committed suicide in India between 1995 and 2013 .1 newlineThe Deccan Agriculturalists Relief Act was enacted by the then British government in 1875-1877 to control the revolts of the people of India in their own way. With this act, the government at that time could have easily suppressed the insurgency. The feature of this act was that the rights of the people who paid money to the Deccan cotton farmers at interest rate were limited. They could only pay up to a limit in their area. Interest rates were also set in full. The act banned the plunder of farmers by moneylenders. At that time it was implemented by the British government in some places under its rule. With this selectively implemented act, the British government catered to the interests of its cotton traders. After investigating the cases of farmer suicides in Tamil Nadu in 1966, Ganapati and Tankobarao recommended a complete ban on the distribution of organic, organo-phosphorus compounds in agriculture .2 The report on newline newlineopen availability of agricultural pesticides in West Bengal and the survey of farmer suicides in West Bengal villages took into account the responsibility of pesticides
