Abstract: Our present world is concerned about the protection of the newlineenvironment along with productivity. Chemical processes that focus on newlinethese objectives have become significant recently. Making the chemical newlinereactions greener can solve many environmental problems. For this newlinepurpose, chemists have introduced alternate reaction media and catalysts. newlineTo achieve ecological objectives, one can either substitute highly toxic newlineand hazardous solvents with conventional solvents that are known to have newlinebetter environmental, health, and safety properties or can try to find green newlinesolvents. The latter must meet certain criteria such as availability, nontoxicity, newlinebiodegradability, recyclability, non-flammability, and low price. newlineIn this sense, recent works have recognized the potential of deep eutectic newlinesolvents (DESs) and low melting mixtures (LMMs) as biodegradable and newlinebio-renewable solvents which offer easily tuneable and environmentally newlinefriendly reaction media for a large variety of chemical transformations. newlineTheir application as green solvents and catalysts have their place in the newlinefields of organic reactions and extraction processes. newlineThe present thesis mainly aims at the properties and applications of newlinelow melting mixtures, which completely satisfy the green chemistry newlineprinciples. Many physicochemical properties of low melting mixtures newlineare studied. Various studies include thermal stability, glass transition newlinetemperature, density, viscosity, acidity, surface tension, refractive index, IR newlinespectral properties, cytotoxicity and emission spectra. The application newlinetowards organic synthesis makes the low melting mixtures very important.A study on the use of low melting mixtures in organic synthesis; the dual newlinerole as catalyst and solvent are presented. newline
