Abstract: Background: Overweight is most serious public problem. It has become global pandemic. Overweight/obesity implies excess fat and not merely excess weight. Overweight in children is becoming more common. Obesity is due to an imbalance between energy consumption and energy expenditure. Overweight/obesity is a health concern in itself and also increases the risk of other serious health problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes and psychological distress. The samprapti of the Sthaulya explains there is only increase in the malformed Medo Dhatu not the other Dahtus. Ancient scholars of Ayurveda described the causes, pathology, co-morbidities and its managements in detail at different levels. This study includes Mustadi vati (herbal formulation) adjunct with diet and exercise interventions. newlineMethods: Simple randomized controlled Clinical study was conducted in the overweight school going children as per the revised criteria for overweight Indian children and of age group 10 14 years in the schools of eastern Pune. Total 160 children were screened out and registered from above source, out of which 140 children (70 in each group) completed the trial. newlineGroup A (Trial Group) Mustadivati along with précised dietary and exercise interventions. Group B (Control Group) Précised dietary and exercise interventions. newlineThe assessment of efficacy of drug was made on anthropometric parameters, scoring of clinical features subjective criteria adopted. The patients were followed up fortnightly for 2 months and observations regarding improvement in all these parameters were noted down. Also outcome changes are noted in weight reduction and relief from the some clinical features of sthaulya as described in subjective criteria with the management plan. newline
