Abstract: | Rearing chickens for egg and meat was typically a backyard venture in India before newline1960s; today it has transformed into a vibrant, fully viable and self sufficient Industry. In newlinespite of this achievement, use of selective breeding policies for higher egg and meat newlineyield, intensive rearing and unrestrained use of antibiotics is promoting stress in birds newlinebeyond the boundary of their physiological tolerance and making them more susceptible newlineto infections and metabolic disorders. newlineThere has been a considerable increase in scientific literatures on antibiotic alternatives newlineand feed additives to promote growth and enhance gut health in animal and poultry newlineproduction. The various groups of antibiotic alternatives are accessible to enhance animal newlineproductivity and help poultry to perform up to their genetic potential under present newlinecommercial circumstances. Probiotic is emerging as one of the most potential alternatives newlineto antibiotics. Probiotics have several beneficial effects on overall health and growth newlineperformance of chickens. newlineSpecies belonging to Lactic acid bacteria group are considered as most suitable probiotics newlinefor livestock and poultry because of their abilities to adapt and modify the intestinal newlineenvironment, in which they have been delivered. newlineIndian native chickens have shown to have better egg and meat traits and resistance to newlineinfectious diseases. The immune parameters of Indian chickens are far better as compared newlineto commercial broiler chickens. Most of these properties are substantially influenced by newlinegut micro-flora. newlineHence, the present study aims at isolating and characterizing Lactic acid bacteria from newlinegastrointestinal tract of native indigenous chickens through modern biotechnological newlinetechniques and makes an endeavor to produce effective probiotic strain/strains for poultry newlinesector. newlineIn this work; Isolation, Identification (Biochemical and Molecular) and in vitro and in newlinevivo probiotic potential of selected isolates was studied by adapting appropriate and newlinestandard methodologies. newlineThis research was proposed and conduct |
