Abstract: | In the Modern world materials play a great part and diand#64256;erent alloys of the materials will be used for their diand#64256;erent and respective applications. 304-Stainless Steel and its alloys are used in aerospace, electronic, medical, dairy and automobile industries because of their high specific strength, stiand#64256;ness, good wear behavior, less corrosion, good weld ability and good machinability. However, the severe oxidation loss of Stainless Steel when utilized at the temperature higher than 1000and#9702;C restricts its further applications. newlineThe main focus of the present work is on analyzing the weld ability (laser welding) of 304-Stainless Steel. This research work proposed an experimental design approach to process parameter optimization for the laser welding of 304 Stainless Steel in a constrained overlap configuration. To determine the optimal laser-welding parameters, a set of mathematical models will be developed relating to welding parameters and to each of the weld characteristics. These will validate experimentally and determine the optimal range of welding parameters that minimize the Weld Zone (WZ) width and maximize the weld penetration depth, and weld shearing force. newlineStainless Steels are selected primarily for their excellent wear, corrosion and oxidation resistance properties. One of the best methods for producing Stainless Steel with high quality parts and precession at reduced expense is through powder metallurgy. The needs for Stainless Steels which are sintered has increased greatly, in recent years because of their promising qualities, production without diand#64259;culty and are economical in production, particularly where complicated things are present. Sintered Stainless Steel resistance of corrosion is poor because of their high porosity and less density, which in turn limits their use in most of the large scale parts production. Several studies have been carried with a view to understand the properties of sintered Stainless Steels that are obtained using diand#64256;erent methods. newline |
