dc.description.abstractnewline This thesis presents a detailed numerical study on boundary layer newlineflows over permeable horizontal vertical flat plates and permeable thin newlinecylinder newlineThe influence of thermal diffusion along with surface mass transfer newlineon a mixed convection flow over a permeable flat surface with convective newlineboundary condition has been studied numerically The non linear coupled newlinepartial differential equations governing the flow and thermal fields are first newlinetransformed into a set of non linear coupled ordinary differential equations by newlinea set of suitable similarity transformations The resulting system of coupled newlinenon linear ordinary differential equations is solved using Shooting method by newlineconverting into initial value problem In this method system of equations is newlineconverted into a set of first order system which is solved by fourth order newlineRunge Kutta method The results indicate that suction increases the range of newlinebuoyancy parameter for which the dual solutions exist while injection reduces newlinethe range Further it has been noticed that the buoyancy assisting force causes newlineconsiderable overshoot in the velocity profile and the Prandtl number strongly newlineaffects the thermal boundary layer thickness including the surface heat newlinetransfer rate newlineen_US
