Abstract

Shobha De is one of those Indian English writers who occupy a distinctive place as a journalist as well as novelist in the literary world of India Influenced by the cultural rfeminist ideas of the west as a fashionable trend, Shobha De has talked about womens sexuality and unlimited aspirations very freely and boldly The present work examines Shobha Des literary sensibility and her women characters in the light of cultural feminist theory as practised in India It is an effort to evaluate the cultural feminist stance in Des novels and analyse how she differs other literary writers desiring to arise consciousness of the modern women in the society The present thesis is a critical assessment of Shobha Des writing capability and her impression on her readers
