Abstract: Around the world, there is an increasing trend in areas of land, surface waters and newlinegroundwater affected by contamination from industrial and agricultural activities either due newlineto ignorance, lack of vision or carelessness. The build-up of toxic pollutants (metals, organic newlinecontaminants in soil, surface water and ground water) not only affects natural resources but newlinealso causes a major strain on ecosystems. Remediation of contaminated sites using newlineconventional practices is often expensive, has limited potential and is usually only applicable newlineto small areas. Additionally, these conventional approaches to remediation often make the newlinesoil infertile and unsuitable for agriculture and other uses by destroying the newlinemicroenvironment. Hence there is the need to develop and apply alternative, environmentally newlinesound technologies ESTs, taking into account the probable end use of the site once it has been newlineremediated. newlineDue to rapid industrialization and human activities, the environmental pollution increases newlinerapidly. The discharge of wastewater from industries such as stone, chemical, fertilizers, newlinetextile etc. pollute water bodies, soil and flora fauna. Quality of soil and water is degrading newlineday by day and human and other activities are adversely affected. Agriculture also depends newlineupon many factors like physical, chemical, phenomenon of water and soil. If the soil is newlinecontaminated, then the growing of crop is automatically contaminated, crop produce may be newlineconsumed by us in future and it will enter to our food chain. Due to the over exploitation and newlinepollution of the soil and water, yield of the crops and fertility of soil reduces. newline
