Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) is exhibiting tremendous improvement in photo conversion efficiency at laboratory scale since their birth. Currently, its efficiency is outshining the copper indium gallium selenium (CIGS) based solar cells and advancing towards the silicon based solar cells. This is due to the rigorous research being done on the perovskite absorbers and charge extraction layers. One of the major focus is on defect passivation of the electron extraction layers in view of controlling the open circuit losses in PSCs. The present study addresses, the manipulation of defects in titanium oxide (TiO2) based electron extraction layers keeping in mind the importance of defect engineering in tuning the charge transport behaviour of metal oxides towards better electrical properties as well as smoothening the charge injection at the interfaces. A perfect band alignment at the interfaces is the key point towards the minimum non-radiative recombination loss newline
