Abstract: newline In current Scenario, drug design is a foremost area of study for finding suitable and newlineeffective solutions for the need of society in useful drugs to cure prevalent diseases. newlineHeterocyclic compounds considered one of the important class of organic chemistry, newlinewhich are used in many biological fields due to its activity in multiple illnesses. Many newlinebiological molecules also contain heterocyclic rings such as DNA and RNA, newlinechlorophyll, haemoglobin and vitamins etc. Heterocyclic compounds have role in most newlinefields of sciences such as medicinal chemistry, biochemistry and also another area of newlinesciences. Heterocyclic compounds are one of the most significant and complex branch newlineof the organic chemistry. The heterocyclic compounds occur widely in nature and quite newlinea few there are essential to life processes. newlineThe introductory chapter attempt to describe about heterocyclic compounds and role of newlineheterocyclic compounds in pharmaceutical industry. The various types of heterocyclic newlinecompounds present in drug design are oxygen containing heterocyclic compounds, newlinenitrogen containing heterocyclic compounds and sulphur containing heterocyclic newlinecompounds. These heterocyclic compounds are further subdivided depending upon the newlinenumber of hetero atoms present in the ring. The different drugs have different biological newlineactivities depending upon the hetero atom present in the ring. newlinePresent thesis has been presented in five chapters. Chapter one deals with introduction newlineof heterocyclic chemistry, scope of heterocyclic chemistry in different fields of newlinechemistry that includes structures of different heterocyclic compounds, biological newlineproperties of heterocyclic compounds, application and use of heterocyclic compound. newlineThe chapter one also includes structures of different drugs based on hetero atoms newlinepresent in these drugs. Thiazole based derivatives have attracted the attention and newlineconsidered as important therapeutically-active molecules among this class
