D: Varicose/Venous ulcer is the most common burning problem in the society and one of the major complications of Varicose Veins. Varicosity of lower limb Veins is one such vascular disorder that impedes normal steps of wound healing process. Many histo-pathological studies show prolonged inflammatory phase in Varicose Ulcer, which causes delay in the formation of mature granulation tissue and a parallel reduction in wound tensile strength. In Sushruta Samhita, Vimlapana karma is explained as the preliminary treatment modality mentioned for Vranashotha (inflammation swelling s), wherein which there is an obstruction of vata kapha dosha. newlineOBJECTIVES: The objective of the present study was to know the efficacy of Vimlapana Karma in Dushta Vrana (Varicose Ulcer) in comparison with Jatyadi Taila application and to assess the rate of wound healing in Varicose Ulcer by Vimlapana Karma with clinical study. newlineMETHODS: 40 patients fulfilling the inclusion of Dushta Vrana i,e Varicose Ulcer were randomly selected and divided into 2 groups, comprising 20 patients in each group. Source of patients were from OPD, IPD and Camps conducted by Dept of Shalyatantra of BVVS AMCH, Bagalkot and PIA, Vadodara Gujarat. In this study Standard group (Jatyadi Taila dressings) and Study group (Vimlapana Karma followed with Jatyadi Taila dressings) taken. newlineRESULTS: Jatyadi Taila and Vimlapana Karma provided significant relief in Vedana (58% and 100%), Varna (28% and 90%), Srava (51% and 100%), Gandha (52% and 100%), Akruti (20% and 90%), Mamsankura (33% and 100%) and Kandu (28% and 100%) after treatment respectively. In Vimlapana Group Complete relief of 100% was noticed in Vedana, Srava, Gandha, Mamsankura and Kandu; except Varna and Akruti where 90% relief was seen within 15days whereas 100% relief in all parameters within 45days. INTERPRETATION and CONCLUSION: There was significant reduction in wound parameters in Vimlapana Karma and wound healed average of 10-15days.
