Abstract: | Water is an elixir of life. Water is an important natural resource for the survival and newlinesustenance of the living organisms. Physical And Chemical Analysis Of Drinking newlineWater Of Balh Tehsil Distt. Mandi, Himachal Pradesh (India) , is an attempt to newlineanalyze 30 samples of drinking water collected from 5 different locations (Nerchowk, newlineBhangrotu, Kanaid, Lohara and Rati) of Tehsil Balh. Balh is densely populated fertile newlinevalley famous for agricultural production, having different small industries near to the newlinearea, therefore it became significant to see the drinking water quality in such area. The newlinedrinking water samples were collected from sampling stations during premonsoon, newlinemonsoon and postmonsoon seasons in 2019. The maximum temperature in this region newlineis 42and#730;C and receives average annual rain fall of 131.5mm. The purpose of the study newlinewas to ascertain the quality of water from the sources Handpump/Borewell (Ground newlinewater) and IPH Supply (Surface water) of Tehsil Balh. Clean and contamination free newlinesample containers were used for sample collection. Samples were preserved so newlinecarefully that the analysis gave results for the actual composition of the sample. newlineDrinking water samples had been analyzed using AR grade chemicals following newlinestandard physical, chemical and instrumental methods suggested by APHA(2012) and newlineresults were compared with BIS and WHO standards. The water samples from each newlinestation were analyzed for the number of parameters such as Colour, Odour, newlineTemperature, Turbidity, TDS, TSS, TH, Alkalinity, Conductivity, pH, Aluminium, newlineCopper, Zinc, Iron, Lead, Manganese, Arsenic, Cadmium, Chromium, Silver, newlineFluoride, Nitrite, Nitrate, Sulphate, Phosphate, DO, BOD, COD. Temperature was newlinemeasured at the time of sampling by thermometer. The digital pH meter was used to newlinemeasure the pH of water sample. Turbidity was determined by Nephelometric newlineMethod; Gravimetric method was adopted to determine Total Dissolved Solids and newlineSulphate content. Total Suspended Solids was determined by using Filtration Method. newlineElectrical conductivity w |
