N Panduroga is a Pittapradhan Tridoshaja vyadhi. It is described as Rasapradoshaja vikara as well as Santarpanottha vyadhi n Ayurved classics. The common symptoms of Panduroga are Panduta, Aruchi, Daurbalya, Pindikodweshtan, Shirashoola, Bhrama, Mukhapaka etc. which are nearly similar to signs and symptoms of Iron deficiency Anemia.Anemia is a condition in which the number of red blood cells (RBCs), and consequently their oxygen-carrying capacity, is insufficient to meet the body s physiological needs. Anemia results from one or more of the following process: defective red cell production, increased red cell destruction or blood loss. Iron deficiency is thought to be the most common cause of anaemia globally. newlineAIM - To evaluate the efficacy of Phalatrikadi syrup in Panduroga with special reference to Iron Deficiency Anemia in school going children. newlineOBJECTIVES - To study the probable mode of action of Phalatrikadi syrup in Panduroga. To compare the efficacy of the trial drug Phalatrikadi syrup with control drug Drakshadi syrup. newlineMETHODOLOGY: STUDY DESIGN: A randomized controlled clinical study. newlineMATERIALS AND METHOD: Raw drug was procured from local market vendor, Vadodara and both the syrups were prepared at GMP certified Pharmacy of Parul Institute of Ayurved. The patients were screened and enrolled for clinical study fulfilling the inclusion criteria from various camps. newlineSTATISTICAL ANALYSIS : The obtained data was analysed using SPSS software by applying Friedman test, Wilcoxon Signed Rank test for intragroup assessment and Mann Whitney test for intergroup assessment of subjective parameters and Paired t test for intragroup assessment and Unpaired t test for intergroup assessment of Objective parameters. Pearsons correlation was done to know interrelations between the various parameters. newlineRESULTS: Phalatrikadi syrup and Drakshadi syrup both showed statistically significant results on subjective as well as objective parameters.
