Abstract: Mobile cloud computing devices such as smartphones and tablets are becoming a significant part of our modern and virtual lifestyle. In order to best exploit the computational capabilities of servers on cloud, the mobile cloud computing concept has evolved as a way to integrate the advantages of mobile computing with cloud computing. Mobile cloud computing architecture enables broad and powerful computing resources to be delivered as facilities. This makes it possible for limited-resource mobile devices to perform complex computations requiring more effective computing of energy. Mobile cloud computing can offer several significant computing services, advantages such as prolonged battery life, increased storage, scalability etc. we aim to develop energy-efficient computation offloading algorithms that incorporate the essential features of mobile cloud computing like elasticity, heterogeneity and uncertainty as well as the issues of delay and performance degradation on mobile devices. These strategies are based on novel heuristic and intelligent techniques and focus on various parameters, namely, execution time, transmission time, execution cost and energy. Executing the applications in a multisite mobile cloud computing environment, deadline or budget are the main constraints. To achieve the objectives, optimization techniques based strategies are implemented which ensures that the mobile application finishes under a given deadline while minimizing its execution cost and energy consumption. The proposed mechanisms in this thesis have proven to be highly efficient in term of energy saving during application offloading in dynamic mobile cloud computing environment. newline
