Abstract: | Transformational leadership and its relationship with organizational commitment have always remained an interesting topic of study among researchers. However, the impact of other variables having a partial or whole mediating effect on this relationship has been researched by very few scholars especially in the sector of Higher Educational Institutions. Several other attempts are made by various researchers to examine and establish a correlation of job characteristics with other variables. One among them is Organizational Commitment. This study besides establishing the significant correlations among Transformational Leadership and Organizational Commitment also investigates the intervening role of Job Characteristics among Transformational Leadership and Organizational Comitment. This research work brings insights on the transformational leadership dimensions such as group goals, Intellectual stimulation, individualized support, appropriate role model, high-performance expectation, and articulating the vision and its direct effect on Organizaional Commitment. The study also explores the mediating effects of job characteristics on commitment. Employees are considered as the strength of any business. Their involvement with the organization is of great importance. Among the rapidly growing competition, Educational Establishments are operating like business entities and to maximize profit/wealth, various facilities are offered to attract the target population. newlineCentralized air-conditioning of the institutions, AC Hostels, Luxurious Buses for transportation, smart classrooms are the implied offers made to the students. Institutions (mostly private institutions) has involved a revenue model, thus they adopt such practices to attract more number of students. This business involvement with the educational Institutions has been both a cause and aconsequence of this change in public opinion. The magnitude and growth in the Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) is well appreciated. |
