Abstract: This research thesis in its present visage is an exiguous endeavor to make an in-depth newlinestudy of the scope for advancement in the field of forensic/scientific evidence by way newlineof review of the available literature in the field and make recommendations newlineaccordingly. This doctrinal research will be conceptual in nature and discuss in newlinedetailed manner the distinction of relevancy and admissibility of scientific techniques, newlinelike polygraph Test, Narco-analysis Test, Brain mapping test and DNA Test as newlineapplied to the cases involving Law of paternity, murder, rape and other offences of newlineheinous nature, as against criminal Law with reference to the ratio of decisions in newlinedifferent landmark cases. The research thesis has sketched out some of the probative, newlinenormative and jurisprudential context of criminal adjudication in India, with the aim newlineof promoting better understanding of the institutional environment in which forensic newlinescience must operate. The research will analyze the legislative conundrum with regard newlineto applicability of forensic science in Indian criminal justice system. It will also try to newlineprobe the reasons as to why the role of forensic science in Indian criminal justice newlineadministration is still vintage type, at rudimentary stage or restrictive in nature, even newlinethough since last few decades, a tremendous technological advancement in scientific newlineera has been made. The Principal limitation of Indian Criminal justice system is that, newlinefor most crimes, the totality of evidence available to the investigating authorities is newlineinsufficient to establish perpetrators of crime as the burden of proof in criminal cases newlineis on the prosecution to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt and the benefit of newlinedoubt goes to the defence.
