Abstract: The aim of this doctoral thesis is to demonstrate simple, cost effective, scalable, and newlinesustainable synthesis of various types of nanobio composites from metal nano particles and newlinenaturally occurring biopolymers. The nanobio composites are advanced functional materials newlinethat usually have myriads of applications in biotechnology, biochemistry, nanotechnology, newlinematerial chemistry and biomedical chemistry. In this thesis, the nanobio composites were newlinecharacterized thoroughly to understand the interaction between the metal nano particles and newlinethe biopolymers. Further, the nanobio composites were utilized as catalysts for Suzuki cross newlinecoupling reaction and nitrobenzene reduction. Given the robust nature of the composites they newlinewere additionally used as catalyst to mimic the activity of naturally occurring peroxidase newlineenzyme. Finally, the versatility of the catalyst was probed with the oxidation reaction of newlinedibenzothiophene for desulphurization of model fossil fuel. Overall, the nanobio composites newlinewere proven to be an environmentally benign and industrially applicable catalyst with newlinemultitude of applications. newline
