Obesity has become an epidemic worldwide leading to other degenerative diseases like heart disease. The present study is an attempt to evaluate the effectiveness of natural products which can help in losing weight and make a positive difference in Lipid Profile and Fasting Blood Sugar Level. Green Coffee, the best natural weight loss drink has a miraculous component known as chlorogenic acid which is in combination with thyme, rich in antioxidant will be given to the subjects to assess their anthropometric and biochemical parameters. The present research study was conducted with an objective to assess Anti- hyperlipidaemic effects of Thyme infused Green Coffee on Human subjects in different areas of West Delhi with a sample size of 100 adults having elevated serum cholesterol and fasting blood sugar levels. The subjects were equally split among two groups namely Group 1: Green Coffee Group and Group Two: Thyme infused Green Coffee Group. The dosage for Group 1 was 800 mg of green coffee powder enriched with 50% chlorogenic acid mixed with 2 grams of Rice husk powder and for Group 2, 800 mg of green coffee powder enriched with 50% chlorogenic acid with 2 grams of Thyme powder packed in tea bags. The lipid profiles and fasting blood sugar levels were checked on Day 0 and Day 90. The data analysis was done with the help of MS Excel and SPSS. The data was analysed and stated no significant difference between both groups at baseline level regarding age, gender, demographic profile, anthropometric profile and lipid profile. A decrease in weight, waist circumference and BMI of the subjects was noticed after intervention of Thyme infused green coffee and green coffee, the differences in the weight (Plt0.01) and BMI (Plt0.01) were statistically significant, but the differences in waist circumference were not statistically significant (P= 0.293, Pgt0.01). The changes within group show significant changes for all anthropometry measurements (Pgt0.01) in both groups. However, mean difference of Group 2: Thyme infused green coffee was better than that of green coffee Group. The reduction in Total cholesterol, LDL and Triglycerides showed up a significant difference(Plt0.01) of the subjects was observed after intervention in both groups. The changes within group show significant difference for all biochemical parameters the difference was statistically significant (Plt0.01) in both groups. For the levels of Fasting blood Sugar there was no significant difference between the two groups (Plt 0.05, P= 0.513). however, The difference between within the groups was significant with mean difference of 2.90 in both the groups. The current study revealed that there was reduction in the lipid profiles of the subjects of the both groups post intervention. The differences were highly significant. In this study the total Cholesterol, Triglycerides and LDL levels lowered by the consumption of Thyme infused green coffee however the HDL levels were increased. The reason for the positive effect of Thyme infused green coffee on lowering the Lipid profile is assumed to be the high antioxidant level of the herb which also inhibits the absorption of serum cholesterol in the intestine. This study revealed that Thyme infused green coffee can be suggested as a remedy for hyperlipidaemia however more study on a larger sample size is needed. newline
