dc.description.abstract | India is facing serious problem of water pollution and this water pollution is increasing day by day due to increasing population and industrialization. Energy demand is also increasing because of increasing our living standard. Today for electricity, we are mainly dependent on thermal power plant and lots of water required for cooling and emissions scrubbing in thermoelectric generation but considering the adverse effect of non conventional source of energy, India is going towards renewable source of energy. Biomass being the most commonly available source for energy generation and conversion of biomass into electricity through biomass gasification technology is one of the most viable options. Like other energy sources a lot of fresh water is required for cooling and cleaning of fuel gas generated in power plant. In coming years demand of water in energy sector will increase 3-8 times. The use of water in these energy sectors adversely affects the quality of water by contamination. Competing demands for water supply are distressing the value and availability of the resource. Nowadays supply of fresh water to everyone becomes a challenge, therefore investigation of waste water of biomass based power plant was done in this research and to overcome the shortage of water it was treated with natural occurring biomaterial, without using any chemicals. The main purpose of this research is to utilize waste of power plant to treat the waste water of gasifier (Best from Waste). newlineThe quality of waste water generated through power plant changes with changing feedstock, therefore to study the effect of change of feedstock on quality of wastewater generated during cooling and cleaning, four biomass i.e. briquettes of pigeon pea, soybean, lantana and wood were taken in this research. Their physical properties i.e. bulk density, true density, moisture content, volatile matter, ash content and fixed carbon were analysed. . | |
