Abstract: Dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) is used at microwave frequencies and higher, that newlineconsists of a block of ceramic material of various shapes like cylindrical, rectangular, newlinehemispherical, triangular, and so forth. DRAs working in their fundamental modes newlineradiate like a magnetic dipole, independent of their shapes. During the past three newlinedecades, DRA has been extensively used due to their attractive features for example newlinecompact size, low loss, light weight, high power, low cost and wide bandwidth. DRAs newlinesubstitute other radiating elements at high frequencies. This is mainly credited to the newlinefact that DRAs do not suffer from conduction losses. DRAs are simple to excite using newlinedifferent feeding mechanisms such as coaxial probe, microstrip transmission line, newlineaperture coupled microstrip, and coplanar waveguide. Among the various excitation newlineschemes, aperture coupled DRA fed by a microstrip line is often used because of easy newlinefabrication and compatibility with monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs). newline
