dc.description.abstract | Material loss due to erosion is a serious problem associated with the flow of solid-liquid newlinemixtures. Slurry erosion limits the useful life of equipment and their efficiency. Erosion is newlinetherefore, a critical parameter for design, selection, and operation of the hydraulic transportation newlinesystem. Engineering interest is to estimate the service life of equipment / components subjected newlineto slurry erosion and to investigate the possibilities of enhancement of their life. newlineThe coal and coal ash samples were collected from the Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal newlinePower plant, Ropar, Punjab, India. The coal samples were prepared by crushing with a newlinelaboratory-size ball mill to the different fractional sizes required for experiments. The various newlinebench scale tests like particle size distribution, static settled concentration, specific gravity and newlinepotential of hydrogen value were performed to study the physical, chemical and mineralogical newlineproperties of coal and coal ash samples. | |
