Abstract: | The present research was undertaken to evaluate the in vitro antioxidant and newlineantibacterial activities of Madhuca longifolia var. latifolia (Roxb.) A. Chev. flowers. newlineThe flowers of Madhuca longifolia were subjected for evaluation of physicochemical newlinecharacters. The losses on drying of flowers were 11.62±0.120%. The flowers were newlinesubjected for ashing to found out the total ash content and it was 6.78±0.035%. The pH newlineof aqueous solution obtained from flowers was determined and the pH1% w/v solution newline6.16±0.125, pH10% w/v solution 6.23±0.13.The flowers of Madhuca longifolia were newlinesubjected for heavy metal analysis by ICP-MS. The heavy metals selenium, mercury, newlineboron, beryllium and molybdenum were found to be absent in the flowers of Madhuca newlinelongifolia. The toxic heavy metals lead, cadmium, chromium, nickel, arsenic, lead were newlinepresent in very less negligible amounts. Iron was found to be present in highest amount newline(12.164 ppm) as compared to other elements. newlineThe M. longifolia flowers were extracted using polar and non-polar solvent with newlinedifferent concentration of solvents by Maceration and Soxhlet extraction methods. newlineSoxhlet extraction method showed highest percentage of extract yield in methanol 50% newline(83.14±0.55%). newline |
