Abstract: Among all the Ametropias myopia is the most prevailing cause of refractive newlineerror that can be interpreted as when the effective power of the eye is more and newlineconsequently a blurred distance image is being perceived. Young adults are the newlinematter of concern in this fact around the world due to numerous aspects. Few newlineanalysts come up with their papers that near work activities is directly related newlinewith the progression of myopia. The main prerogative of this scrutiny is to newlineidentify all the preeminent facet of myopia among the young adults in the newlinesouthern region of West Bengal particularly in the locality of Durgapur. newlineA study was organized to achieve the objective concerned. This study was newlinecarried forward with the purpose to establish the occurrence through crosstabulation newlinebetween age group and different types of myopia. this study consisted newlineof 2500 young adults between the age group of 16- 22 years, who served as newlinepatients in this study. They were chosen with the help of simple random newlinesampling method. This was a cross- sectional study. Vision of these chosen newlineyoung adults were recorded using Snellen s Visual Acuity chart. Refraction of newlinethese patients was done with help Retinoscope. At the end of this inspection it newlinewas observed that, among 2500 young adults, 575 were suffering from different newlinegrades of short-sightedness. Moreover, a planned form of case record was newlineprepared to record the details about all the factors associated with myopia. This newlinehelped us to know that there are certain factors such as near work activities newlinewhich include the amount of time spent for near work daily, use of cell phones newlineand computers per day, time spent in watching television every day and also the newlinetype of light and the intensity of illumination used during performing all types newlineof near activities, that are highly associated with the prevalence of myopia newlineamong the young adults of the concerned age group. newlineThe obtained data was investigated and arranged using Statistical Package newline(SPSS) 16.0 software and chi-square test, cross-tabulation, Reliability
