Abstract: | India s men s kabaddi team has lost only two matches in its Asian Games history. Before the shock loss to Iran, the invincible were beaten by Korea and thus failed to reach the finals in Asian games. Due to the Pro Kabaddi league, several foreign players are playing alongside Indian players. This enables them to study the techniques and tactics of Indian players. Although Indian players are miles ahead in terms of technique, the issues related to psychological burnout may be hampering their consistency and performance. As yet no scientific study in this regard has been conducted in which psychological burnout among national-level kabaddi players being assessed based on gender and sports accomplishments. This study is an effort towards filling the existing research gap. newlineBURNOUT : newlineTo achieve something in academics, sports or any other field requires a high degree of painstaking effort. In sports, athletes try hard to hone their skills by additional efforts. Sometimes this workload becomes too much and creating stress. Since the requirement of top-level performance in sports involves physical and mental training, sometimes it goes wrong, and due to additional pressure and stress of performance, negative psychological consequences happen. According to Markati et al. (2018) the pressure cooker situation of competition, the pressure to achieve success in sports often leads to burnout. |
