Abstract: | Economic liberalization has put forward fundamental change in the investment newlinepattern among investors. After the 1991 wave of economic reforms, Indian newlineeconomy entered into a new era of economic development through opening the newlinedoor for free entry of private sector players in creating new opportunities of newlineinvestment prospects which has resulted a speedy growth of financial markets and newlinefinancial services. Mutual Fund Industry is not an exception to this wave of newlineeconomic globalization. Over the past few decades, the mutual fund investment newlinehas become a household name in India. It has been a popular investment option newlineamong the masses. All those investors who cannot capitalize the opportunities of newlinethe stock market directly can derive gains from equity-based investment through newlinechoosing mutual funds as a superior investment option for them. newlineMutual Fund is an inevitable element of the financial system which collects funds newlinefrom small retail investors and also institutional investors and invests those funds newlineby way of forming portfolios of corporate securities through allocation of funds newlineon proportionate basis providing steady rate of dividend along with capital newlineaccumulation to investors. It usually operates on the concept of Trusteeship .
